Hi there! My name is Kat. I live in Launceston Tasmania with my partner and our 2 dogs, having left Melbourne in 2021 in search of a more relaxed lifestyle.

I have always sought creative outlets in my life as I find so much joy and satisfaction in looking at something and knowing I made it with my own hands. In lockdown 2020 I, like many people, found myself needing something to focus on whilst ordinary life was on hold. My nanny had a huge bag of yarn she was planning to donate and I couldn’t help but wonder what I could do with it. I had tried and failed to get the hang of knitting and crochet but the method of punch needle embroidery seemed simple enough that even I could do it! And so A Little Yarn came into being.

I find the slow yet precise repetitiveness of punch needle extremely meditative and was drawn to the endless colours and textures of yarn that bring a 2D design to life and make each piece invitingly tactile.

This creative endeavour has been stop and start the last few years due to several moves, health, and finishing up uni but I am looking forward to being able to create more consistently moving forward :)
